Education

Mr. Kilgore received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University, and his Masters in Clinical Social Work from The University of Georgia.  He has been licensed in Clinical Social Work in Georgia since 1986.  He is a Fellow and Diplomate with the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists, a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, a Certified Master Addiction Counselor, and is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.

Career

Mr. Kilgore was most recently affiliated with the practice of Addiction Specialist Michael C. Gordon, M.D.  Following Dr. Gordon's retirement in September 2019, Mr Kilgore opened an office in Marietta. He is now affiliated with the practice of Hirt Psychology in Atlanta, Georgia.

Treatment specializations include: trauma, PTSD, substance abuse, addictive disorders, major depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, insomnia, compulsive disorder, stress management, neuromuscular relaxation training, and treatment strategies to effectively manage chronic pain and other medical conditions.  Clinical approaches are tailored to the individual's treatment needs and preferences.

In addition to clinical practice, Mr. Kilgore has served in a variety of leadership positions including: Administrating the first accredited out-patient Pain Management Program in Georgia, and serving as Program Director of a Neurology based program specializing in the treatment of headaches and sleep disorders.  Additionally, he helped develop the Behavioral Services Program for the Pain Management Division of the Center for Spine Care at Shepherd in Atlanta.
